Taavet Kalda

I am a PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg, under the supervision of Gregory M. Green. I previously completed my master’s degree in Mathematical and Theoretical Physics at the University of Oxford in 2021. My research is oriented towards dynamical modelling of the Solar neighbourhood in the Milky Way Galaxy using various machine learning methods such as normalizing flows. My goal is to see how much we can learn about the matter distribution with the availability of new all-sky surveys such as Gaia, which provide unprecedent amounts of data.
